Simply Pure was founded by Wanda James and Scott Durrah, who became the first African Americans to hold a legal marijuana license in the United States, covering a dispensary, a cultivation facility, and an edible company. The dispensary positions itself in the mid-to-premium recreational segment, with a strong emphasis on consumer education, social justice advocacy, and sustainable cannabis products. Staff members, referred to as budologists, are trained to assist both first-time visitors and experienced consumers in finding products suited to their needs, ranging from flower and edibles to concentrates and tinctures. Simply Pure also identifies itself as a politically active business, publicly supporting cannabis legalization and equitable participation in the cannabis industry.
